This article makes an interesting point I think. In college you learn that issues are often complex, not easily resolved by simple positions, and that therefore it’s unwise to be too hasty in jumping to an opinion. But I do feel like this gets extended to a point where if the facts are clear, people are often hesitant to take a clear stand for what is right. As a result, issues with profound moral implications get shoved into an emotionless box and trampled on until they can be represented as a conflict between two sides which each have legitimate arguments, even when one side is demonstrably correct and the other side is demonstrably incorrect.
