"An amendment that would legalize the use of propaganda on American audiences is being inserted into the latest defense authorization bill, BuzzFeed has learned. The amendment would “strike the current ban on domestic dissemination” of propaganda material produced by the State Department and the Pentagon, according to the summary of the law at the House Rules Committee’s official website."

Everyone needs to oppose this like the plague. If they think they need the ability to conduct misinformation campaigns (e.g. lies) and propaganda to shove policies down our throat, it’s only because they have some policies that they think we might have reason to oppose coming up in the pipeline. This will make them immeasurably harder to combat. It also looks like all the disgusting national security clamp-downs will be inserted into Defense Authorization bills from now on, as Obama has proven that he doesn’t have the guts to veto them no matter how odious their content. (If he even really opposes them! Obama was setting up indefinite detentions without trial and assassinations all over the world before the NDAA provision legalizing this that everybody knows about was even drafted!)
